The experience of confusion and indecision seems to cast doubt on the infallibility of much of what we consider to be introspection. "I can be certain of my preference for the left sock." ...but what about all the times I can't be certain of my preference? It seems like a kind of sampling bias to only use the tiny minority of certain internal states when the overwhelming majority are not clear or certain or permenant.

I think hypothetical imperatives are as weird as categorical imperatives. It is weird to think that there is something in reality which prescribes us to give to charity or to not murder someone. But it seems equally weird at least for me to think that there is something in reality which prescribes us to do what satisfies our wants Take for example. I want to to pass the exam If I study hard I will pass the exam. So, I ought to study hard. The conclusion cannot be inferred from the premises because the premises are purely descriptive. But I suppose it is not supposed to be an inference. My wanting to pass the exam somehow grounds that I ought to study. But I cannot understand why this is true. Maybe I am missing something. I mean why are we ought to do what fulfils our wants?

I don't think the utilitarian position considers the change in quality of life for the future and puts the same amount of happiness for people that aren't born yet. And if we wanna talk about prevention of suffering, if nobody is having children, there is no next generation to suffer. I think that any argument that doesn't take into account the difference in the value of life in the present and future is flawed because anti natalism was born as a response to the economic and environmental forecasts that we are seeing.

Even though it's illegal, having someone else fill out your ballot does seem to be within the base level principles of democratic participation. Surely the proxy statutes are to prevent fraud (such as a child filling out a ballot of a parent that never planned to vote or would have voted opposite what the child fills in), and because it's hard to put the onus of preventing fraud on individual people, you do an institutional norm instead, making it illegal for anyone to fill out your ballot unless you do the proxy process, even though it's still the case that there could be illegal proxies that aren't fraudulent. Hopefully the implicature is clear here.

I know that you can take your postal vote to a poling station on an election day and vote therewith. I assume that an appointed proxy can take your postal vote to a poling station on an election day and vote therewith. Presumably, much of this will be at the discretion of an election officer. Perhaps (a photocopy of) your ID and playing this video will be persuasive. I can only recommend that you appoint as your proxy someone that you also trust to have access to your mail in order to pick up voting card. Please let me know whether this is successful, if indeed you attempt this.
